THE HOUSE

Welcome to your countryside home in Cantal

An eco-friendly holiday home on 10 hectares of private land.
And a quiet declaration of love to the beauty of nature…

Those who venture into Cantal, in the heart of Auvergne, know: it’s a land that surprises.
You might get a little lost. Be amazed by the landscapes, forests, colours, and of course, the local gastronomy.
Cantal doesn’t boast, but if you take the time to stay, it reveals its quiet power and calming presence.

A distant bird of prey calling through the valley, the flavour of aged cheese or warm bread, star-filled night skies, the deep hues of autumn…
That’s the promise of The Grange.

The house comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests, surrounded by 10 hectares of private land, far from the noise of the world.

The terrace, the garden, the shade of fruit trees: these are your sanctuaries.
In the barn, you can work with wood by hand, fully immersed in the forest, or spend the evening observing the wildlife of Cantal that freely roams the estate. A quiet, nature-based experience at the heart of your stay.

And don’t be surprised if a beautiful Aubrac cow stops by to say hello…

Large windows let in natural light and open onto the surrounding greenery.

. Three bedrooms have double beds (160 cm or 140 cm)

. One bedroom has two single beds (90 cm)

Amenities

The Kitchen

The kitchen wraps around a large traditional farmhouse table, for relaxed and authentic countryside meals.

It is equipped with a dishwasher, vitroceramic cooktop, oven, refrigerator, and both filter and stovetop coffee makers.

In line with our eco-conscious approach, you won’t find any high-tech gadgets or microwave ovens … we focus on the essentials!

The Bathrooms

There is one bathroom per floor, each with a shower and either a vintage 1950s style or country-chic design.

They are naturally lit, with windows opening to the outside.

A laundry room with a washing machine is available in the basement.

Living Spaces

The open-plan kitchen and living room create a warm and sociable heart to the house.

In the lounge area, a wood-burning stove brings comfort to cooler evenings, while books and board games invite quiet moments.

You’ll find Wi-Fi access if needed, but out here, nature is your screen.

Outdoor Living

Step outside onto the large terrace for breakfasts in the morning sun or a glass of wine at dusk.

A barbecue, a large wooden table, and benches in the grass set the scene for relaxed summer evenings under the stars.

Your Stay at The Grange

A Slow Tourism Experience in the Heart of Cantal

Here, days stretch gently, guided by what nature and the region offer, at their own pace.
This is slow travel in its purest form: simple, meaningful moments rooted in place.

  • A breathtaking hike in the Cantal mountains, along the ridges and glacial valleys of Puy Mary, followed by a taste of bourriol with Roquefort in the medieval village of Salers

  • A quiet walk through the woods on the property, or a refreshing dip in the stream

  • A cultural day in Figeac in the Lot Valley, or a moment of spiritual reflection in Conques

  • A countryside dinner with a plum clafoutis from the garden and a slice of creamy, fragrant Cantal cheese

Or perhaps… simply sit in stillness.
Read. Watch. Listen. Breathe. Feel.

Our Eco-Commitments

Sustainable Renovation

The entire renovation was carried out with eco-responsibility at its core:

  • Locally sourced, natural materials

  • Reclaimed wood and reused fittings

  • Upgraded insulation for better energy efficiency

Our goal: to preserve the spirit of the place while reducing its environmental footprint.

Energy Efficiency

Our choices to reduce energy consumption:

  • Heat pump and wood-burning stove for comfortable, low-impact heating in winter

  • Minimal use of electrical appliances

Comfort and sustainability go hand in hand.

Outdoor Practices

A land care in respect for the ecosystem:

  • Rainwater harvesting

  • No chemical fertilizers

  • Rotational grazing with local animals to enrich the soil naturally

Everything is done with the long-term health: a living landscape to be protected and passed on.

Inside the House

The interior is designed to reflect a philosophy of less but better: what’s truly useful and essential for a comfortable stay.

Most of the furniture has been carefully sourced second-hand, lovingly restored and given a second life.

Each piece has a story — just like the house itself, connected to the values of slow living and sustainability.

A Place That Evolves with Time

This land once belonged to a young farmer who raised Aubrac cows, the iconic breed of the region.
But the barn was tired. The house was tired… and so was the farmer.

When he chose to stop, The Grange was born: a new beginning on 10 hectares of natural beauty, rooted in tradition and open to the future.

The barn was restored with care to preserve its character: its arched stonework, traditional entryway, and now a majestic opening to the forest that feels both timeless and alive.

The house was entirely reimagined with charm and soul:
an open living space, reclaimed wooden floors, lime-plastered walls, a wood-burning stove, natural wood cladding, an outdoor staircase and terrace…
Some original features remain, will you spot them?

And more transformations are on the way.
Let’s see what’s coming…
